Lebanon Humanitarian Crisis

What Is Happening In Lebanon
International Association of World Peace Advocates is working with partner organizations in Lebanon to help people displaced by Israeli airstrikes. We are providing clean water and sanitation, emergency cash, food, and hygiene and menstrual hygiene kits to people seeking shelter in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and North Lebanon.
The current crisis is related to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which has resulted in numerous air strikes in southern Lebanon since October 2023. This most recent escalation in fighting is displacing a million people and putting additional strain on an already overburdened humanitarian response system in Lebanon.
For decades, the people of Lebanon have endured one crisis after another without getting the opportunity to fully recover. This latest emergency will only deepen the existing challenges facing the people of Lebanon and further destabilize an already volatile region.
What Is International Association of World Peace Advocates Doing In Lebanon
In response to the current escalation of violence in Lebanon, International Association of World Peace Advocates is working with a network of partners to assist people in collective shelters. A preliminary assessment by International Association of World Peace Advocates and partners indicate people displaced by the conflict (some of them on multiple occasions) and seeking shelter are in need of bedding, kitchen items for cooking, water and sanitation systems, and hygiene items especially menstrual products for women. Many of the shelters are schools, and they are in need of fuel for generating electricity.
International Association of World Peace Advocates and partners are providing clean water, proper sanitation, food, and hygiene items to help people keep clean and avoid the outbreak of diseases. In the first weeks of the conflict, we have reached around 15,500 people with lifesaving assistance, including:
Food
Bottled drinking water, and water for bathing and cooking delivered by truck to collective shelters
Hygiene and menstrual hygiene kits
Mattresses, blankets, pillows
International Association of World Peace Advocates has worked in Lebanon since 1993, in partnership with local organizations, to support disadvantaged people with cash, clean water, and sanitation systems as well as income generating opportunities, advocating for women’s rights and reproductive health services, and renewable energy solutions. We also work with Syrian and Palestinian refugees, as well as Lebanese communities, including people with disabilities and migrant workers.
We work with 30 local partner organizations in North Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut that deeply understand the needs of the communities where they work.
Over the past decade, we have responded to the multiple crises Lebanon has faced, including the Syria crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Beirut Blast, economic crises, the 2022 cholera outbreak, and violent conflicts.
